Competitive salary | Permanent | Hybrid options (where suitable)

We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke engineering and technology projects for a varied customer base. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.

Working within a matrix organisation, you’ll partner closely with technical leads and subject matter experts to shape plans, manage delivery, and keep stakeholders aligned from kick-off through to project close.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control and close-out
  • Build and maintain clear project plans covering scope, deliverables, milestones, resources, governance, risks and dependencies
  • Create and manage schedules using a WBS-based approach, tracking progress against a baseline and driving actions to completion
  • Monitor budgets and forecasts (including cost-to-complete), reporting progress and raising variances early with options and recommendations
  • Support requirements definition and verification with technical leads, ensuring stakeholder sign-off and a clear audit trail
  • Identify, assess and manage risks/issues, putting practical mitigations and contingency plans in place
  • Facilitate internal and external reviews, keeping meetings focused and ensuring actions/decisions are captured and completed
  • Provide clear, timely stakeholder communication, escalating appropriately and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and helping enhance project tools and processes

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Proven project management experience in an engineering, product development or technical delivery environment
  • Strong ability to deliver results through others in a matrix setup (influencing, delegation, negotiation)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging across multiple disciplines and seniority levels
  • Customer/stakeholder management experience with a delivery-focused mindset
  • Strong planning and organisation skills, able to manage multiple workstreams and shifting priorities
  • High attention to detail, with a pragmatic and adaptable approach
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) in Engineering or a related discipline

Desirable

  • Experience delivering low-volume or bespoke engineering/technology solutions
  • Exposure to projects involving design, development, test and integration
  • Experience working with structured project governance and quality standards (e.g., ISO-aligned environments)
  • Understanding of commercial/contractual delivery and change control
  • APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification

Additional information

  • Based in the Camberley area
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Some projects may require UK Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain it)
