Project Manager – Camberley

We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of bespoke engineering and technology projects for a varied customer base. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
Working within a matrix organisation, you’ll partner closely with technical leads and subject matter experts to shape plans, manage delivery, and keep stakeholders aligned from kick-off through to project close.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead projects through the full lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control and close-out
- Build and maintain clear project plans covering scope, deliverables, milestones, resources, governance, risks and dependencies
- Create and manage schedules using a WBS-based approach, tracking progress against a baseline and driving actions to completion
- Monitor budgets and forecasts (including cost-to-complete), reporting progress and raising variances early with options and recommendations
- Support requirements definition and verification with technical leads, ensuring stakeholder sign-off and a clear audit trail
- Identify, assess and manage risks/issues, putting practical mitigations and contingency plans in place
- Facilitate internal and external reviews, keeping meetings focused and ensuring actions/decisions are captured and completed
- Provide clear, timely stakeholder communication, escalating appropriately and maintaining strong working relationships
- Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and helping enhance project tools and processes
What you’ll bring
Essential
- Proven project management experience in an engineering, product development or technical delivery environment
- Strong ability to deliver results through others in a matrix setup (influencing, delegation, negotiation)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging across multiple disciplines and seniority levels
- Customer/stakeholder management experience with a delivery-focused mindset
- Strong planning and organisation skills, able to manage multiple workstreams and shifting priorities
- High attention to detail, with a pragmatic and adaptable approach
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) in Engineering or a related discipline
Desirable
- Experience delivering low-volume or bespoke engineering/technology solutions
- Exposure to projects involving design, development, test and integration
- Experience working with structured project governance and quality standards (e.g., ISO-aligned environments)
- Understanding of commercial/contractual delivery and change control
- APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification
